To make this low calorie pumpkin spice latte, you will need:
Pumpkin puree – We’re using real pumpkin for this recipe to create a delicious and authentic beverage. If you aren’t able to get your hands on pumpkin puree, you can try this syrup or this syrup which are both great alternatives.
Unsweetened almond milk – My milk of choice will always be unsweetened almond when I’m trying to keep calories low. It tastes delicious but contains barely any calories! Any milk will work for this recipe but the calories will be higher depending on which you use.
Espresso or brewed coffee – You can use some brewed coffee or a few shots of espresso – both taste equally delicious in this PSL.
0 calorie sweetener – Okay, so the world of 0 calorie sweeteners is vast. My all time fave for drinks is this brown sugar alternative which contains 0 calories. You can use whichever 0 calorie sweetener you have to hand for this recipe though. If you’re making the iced version, I recommend going for a mild 0 calorie syrup like this vanilla one.
Vanilla extract – This is optional but it adds a delicious hint of vanilla to this latte.
Pumpkin spice mix – You can use shop bought pumpkin spice mix or if you’re based in England like me and have never seen it in stores, you can make your own. Make your own blend with 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp ginger and 1/8 tsp ground cloves.
Pumpkin sweet cream (optional) – You can add some pumpkin sweet cream if you have a milk frother. It is really easy to make with just a little oat milk, pumpkin puree and vanilla sweetener. You can make a cold foam to top the iced version of this drink too! Plus, it only adds an extra 29 calories which still keeps this drink deliciously under 100 calories!
How to make a low calorie pumpkin spice latte
This latte is super easy to make and can be ready in just 2 simple steps!
- In a small saucepan, whisk together the milk, sweetener, pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice mix and vanilla and place over medium heat. Continue whisking and remove from the heat once it has reached a gentle simmer and begins to steam, about 5 minutes.
- Pour into your favorite mug, add the espresso/coffe and enjoy! It’s that simple 😉
How to make this latte iced
- Place all the ingredients, except the ice into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour your latte into your favorite glass over lots of ice and enjoy!
Low calorie pumpkin cream
Top your drink with a delicious, sweet pumpkin cold foam/cream to really elevate it. You only need 3 ingredients and a milk frother to make it! I use this electric milk frother but a handheld one works fine too.
Place 50ml of oat milk, 1 tsp of pumpkin puree and a dash of 0 calorie vanilla syrup into your milk frother and set to hot foam. To make a cold version for the iced version of this drink, set it to cold foam. If you’re using a handheld frother, place into a mug and whisk until thick and creamy.
