Plus, this latte has just 54 calories so you don’t need to worry about wasting calories on liquids!
Although matcha contains less caffeine than coffee, it gives you a more sustained, less jittery energy. I love a matcha latte in the afternoon to beat the mid-day slump without messing up my sleep in the evening.
Ingredients in a low calorie matcha latte
This matcha latte recipe is so so simple with just 3 ingredients (4 if you count water)!
To make this low calorie iced matcha latte you will need:
Matcha powder – I recommend going with ceremonial grade matcha powder for the best flavor. Matcha should be very bright and not dull.
Almond milk – Almond milk is quickly becoming my all time favourite milk. It is super low in calories but if you get the barista kind, it is still creamy and delicious for just 23 calories per 100ml! You can use any milk of your choosing for this recipe though the calories differ between milks so keep that in mind.
0 calorie vanilla syrup – You can flavor your matcha latte with any syrup of your choosing, my go-to will always be this 0 calorie vanilla-caramel syrup!
Ice – Lots of ice!
How to make a low calorie iced matcha latte
This recipe is as simple as 1, 2, 3. It will come together in under 5 minutes for the perfect little afternoon pick me up!
- Boil some water in a kettle or on the stove. Allow the water to cool slightly for roughly 5 minutes. You don’t want to burn the matcha but you still want water hot enough to dissolve the matcha powder completely.
- In a matcha bowl or small bowl, add the matcha powder and hot water and begin whisking. You can use a bamboo matcha whisk or traditional whisk here. Whisk until the matcha has dissolved completely and has frothed.
- Fill your favorite glass with ice cubes and pour in the matcha. Add your milk and syrup, mix and enjoy!
