To make these low calorie baked glazed donuts you will need:
Egg – This recipe calls for one, room temperature egg. To quickly get a refrigerated egg to room temperature, place it in a bowl of warm water for at least 10 minutes.
Stevia or 0 calorie granulated sweetener – You can use any 0 calorie granulated sweetener here but make sure you check the conversion (sweetness in relation to sugar). The stevia I use is two times as sweet as sugar so I used half the amount of sugar the recipe woud require.
0% fat greek yogurt – 0% fat greek yogurt is great for adding moisture and protein for very few calories. Any 0% fat yogurt will work but greek yogurt is thicker than regular yogurt and provides a better texture. For a dairy-free alternative, opt for a dairy-free yogurt.
Unsweetened almond milk – Any milk will work for this recipe but unsweetened almond milk has the lowest amount of calories.
Vanilla extract – A staple in any donut recipe.
Plain/all-purpose flour – You can sub for gluten-free or oat flour.
Baking powder & baking soda – To help these donuts spread and rise for the perfect soft and fluffy texture.
0 calorie icing sugar – To make the glaze. You can opt for regular icing sugar but the calories will be higher.

How to make low calorie baked glazed donuts

- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg and stevia until light and fluffy. Add the milk, yogurt and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Add in the flour, baking powder and baking soda and mix well to combine.
- Transfer the batter to a piping bag, snip off the end and pipe the batter evenly between a 6-count silicone donut mould. Transfer to the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into either side of the donut comes out clean. Allow them to cool in the mould for a few minutes before glazing.
- Make the glaze by mixing together the 0 calorie icing sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
- Dip the donuts in the glaze and place on a cooling rack, glaze side up.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Top tips
Don’t over-mix the batter – Be careful when mixing the batter and avoid over-mixing as this can lead to tough, dry donuts. Mix until everything is just combined and no more. It’s better to be left with a few lumps in the batter and soft donuts than smooth batter and tough donuts!
Use room temperature ingredients – Room temperature ingredients incorporate better and that means no over-mixing!
Make sure the donuts are cool before glazing– Allow the donuts to cool completely before adding the glaze. If you add the glaze to warm donuts, it will just melt off! Allow the donuts to cool on a cooling rack until they are cool to the touch.

Storage
Once these donuts have cooled, they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. The glaze can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
