A great stir fry usually consists of a protein source, lots and lots of veggies and some type of carb, usually noodles.
I went to make stir fry one day and realized I had no noodles left. There was also a bunch of potatoes in my pantry that were probably going to go off before I got around to using them all. I decided to make a potato stir fry and it was delicious!
I then got to thinking and thought ‘what would a stir fry with fries be like’ and thats how this recipe was born!
Immediately, I was hooked and have been making this recipe almost every week since then. It is so quick and easy and superrrrr delicious!!

- Homemade spicy garlic fries – Homemade fries are so much healthier than store bought or frozen fries. Frying chips in oil leads to them being so high in calories which isn’t necessary when you can get the same taste by baking fries! You can use any fries of your choosing but believe me, these homemade spicy garlic fries are so delicious and work perfectly in this recipe.
- King prawns – King prawns go really well with stir fry recipes. They’re super low in calories, high in protein and versatile. You can use any protein of your choosing but prawns work best with this recipe. I have also tried this recipe with chicken and it certainly didn’t disappoint but prawns definitely win!
- Stir fry mix – The quickest method is by using store bought stir fry mixes. If you have a little extra time, you can prepare your own vegetables. The beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it to your liking and use any vegetables you love!
- Stir fry sauce – The sauce for the stir fry consists of soy sauce, minced garlic, brown sugar, water and seasonings to taste.
How to make these easy stir fry chips
This stir fry chips recipe is really easy to make and comes together in under 30 minutes! Grab your frying pan and ingredients and lets get started.
- Begin by preparing the stir fry vegetables and chopping them into thin slices. Fry the vegetables in 1 calorie spray until soft and a little brown.
- Add in the prawns and continue to fry until the prawns are lightly toasted on both sides.
- Meanwhile, prepare the stir fry sauce using the soy sauce, water and seasonings.
- Pour in the stir fry sauce and cook until reduced and most of the water has evaporated.
- Mix in the brown sugar and remove from the heat once it has completely dissolved.
- Pour the stir fry into a medium-large bowl, add in the fries and mix.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!

Easy stir fry chips
Equipment
- Wok/Frying pan
- Small bowl
Ingredients
- 200 g (2 cups) stir fry vegetables
- 75 g prawns
Stir fry sauce
- 1 minced garlic glove
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 40 ml water
- 2 tsp brown sugar
Seasonings
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp dried vegetable stock
- ¼ tsp ginger powder
Instructions
- Prepare vegetables by slicing them into thin pieces.
- Fry the vegetables in a few 1 calorie sprays until soft and lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add in the prawns and continue to fry until the prawns are lightly toasted on both sides, 3-4 minutes.
- Add in the stir fry sauce and cook until most of the water has evaporated and the mixture is bubbling, about 5 minutes. Mix in the brown sugar and remove from the heat once dissolved.
- Transfer the stir fry to a bowl and mix in the fries until completely coated in the stir fry.
