Ingredients
These are the main ingredients used to make this mango and habanero prawn sushi bowl. Make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the full list of ingredients and their quantities.
- Fresh prawns – Prawn sushi is the absolute best (according to me at least)! Prawns are so low in calories and are extremely easy to cook. They are the perfect base for the Mango and habanero sauce! They come out so tender and delicious whilst requiring very minimal effort.
- Mango & Habanero sauce – This recipe uses my mango and habanero sauce. It is so easy to throw together and requires no cooking! It is low in calories, deliciously sweet and packs a punch with every bite.
- Rice – I used white Basmati rice for this recipe. For a more authentic sushi bowl experience, you can opt for sushi rice or make your own (it is a lot easier to do than you may think). For an even lower calorie alternative, try cauliflower rice!
- Salad – This recipe calls for cucumber, lettuce and avocado. Feel free to customize the salad to your liking by mixing in your favorite vegetables.
Mango & Habanero sauce
This mango and habanero sauce is insanely easy to make and tastes absolutely incredible. It is the perfect balance between sweet and spicy and it’s packed with flavor.
To make the mango and habanero sauce, you need:
- Habanero pepper – Habanero peppers are not easy to come by. I went to at least 5 different supermarkets before I found them! If you are unable to get them, a good alternative is Jalapenos. I have made this sauce with jalapeno and it comes out just as delicious. I will add though, Habanero is far hotter than jalapeno so you will need to use more!
- Mango – Frozen mango chunks are better for this sauce than fresh mango pieces. Because this sauce requires no cooking, it can become a little too watery with fresh mangoes. The frozen mango will make for a thicker sauce.
- Apple cider vinegar & Lemon juice
- Seasonings – This sauce has a delicious flavor as is and requires very few seasonings. I like to add a pinch of onion powder, garlic powder and coriander powder.
All you need to make this sauce is blend everything together until smooth. That’s it!
