These delicate, cake-like donuts require very few ingredients and only 15 minutes to bake! I love to have 3 or 4 for breakfast with a cup of Iced coffee or enjoy them as a dessert after lunch.
The texture – The texture of these donuts is very similar to that of cake. Super fluffy and moist. These donuts taste exactly like blueberry muffins but with frosting which just makes it that little bit more delicious.
The calories – These donuts only contain 83 calories each. You can leave the cream cheese frosting out if you’d like and have a blueberry donut for only 62 calories.
Effort – These donuts require very minimal effort. You probably have most of the ingredients in your kitchen right now. You need nothing more than a blender, a mixing bowl and a spatula.
The ingredients
- Blended oats – The star of the show. I say blended oats but this is essentially oat flour. If you don’t have oat flour, blend up some porridge oats until super fine and you’re good to go!
- Baking powder & baking soda – The combination of both baking powder and baking soda helps these donuts rise to give the prefect cake-like texture.
- 0 calorie sweetener – This recipe calls for granulated sweetener. It will work with liquid sweetener too – use around 20ml of liquid sweetener and decrease the milk to 60ml.
- 0% fat yogurt – This helps with keeping the donuts moist and intact.
- Unsweetened almond milk – Perfect for adding moisture but keeping the calories super low.
- Blueberries – You can’t have a blueberry cheesecake donut without the blueberries!

Low calorie cream cheese frosting
This cream cheese frosting is creamy and super delicious. Its very low in calories which makes it the perfect accompaniment to these blueberry donuts.
I like to use ultra light cream cheese as a base for my frosting. It doesn’t have a strong flavor so whatever you mix it with really comes through.
Here’s how to make this low calorie cream cheese frosting:
- Mix all the ingredients – In a small bowl, whisk ultra light cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and lump-free.
- Spread frosting onto cooled donuts – Spoon and spread the frosting over the donuts. Make sure the donuts have cooled – otherwise, the cream cheese frosting will just melt.
Its really that simple!
How to store these blueberry cheesecake donuts
- These donuts are best served the day they’re made.
- If you do have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Store the donuts in a single layer to keep the frosting from sticking.
Tips to make the best blueberry cheesecake donuts
- Measure ingredients according to the recipe – Make sure your ingredients are exactly as stated in the recipe to get the best results. I would recommend getting a kitchen scale to make sure you get the right measurements (I use this one).
- Blend, blend blend – Make sure you blend the oats until super fine. Its better to over-blend than to be left with lumpy donuts! Make sure your blender is completely dry before blending the oats.
- Add the blueberries at the end – Try to use fresh blueberries if you can. Frozen blueberries tend to bleed into the batter and make the whole donut blue. However, if you place the blueberries into the batter when it’s in the mold instead of mixing the blueberries into the batter, this will decrease the chances of them bleeding into the batter.
- Allow the donuts time to cool – If you spread the frosting onto warm donuts, it will melt. Allow the donuts to completely cool before using the frosting.
