The hardest part about being in a calorie deficit (at least for me) is not being able to have all my favorite desserts or feeling like I’m missing out on delicious foods. The best way to combat this feeling is to create lower calorie alternatives that still taste delicious.

The details
This recipe uses oats as the base. Oats are going to be your absolute best friend if you’re in a calorie deficit or on a weight loss journey. They’re low in calories, packed full of nutrients and you can make them a million different ways so you’ll never get bored of eating oats!
Texture – The texture of this dessert is similar to that of a mousse. If you can imagine a very thick, not so airy mousse that is. This dessert is essentially overnight oats but with a smoother texture as the oats are blended!
Ease – This dessert is extremely easy to make! You just need to blend the ingredients together and leave it to set for a few minutes!
Time – This recipe is really quick and easy to make. You can throw it together and enjoy it right away or refrigerate it for a thicker dessert! Personally, I love to refrigerate it for an hour or so just so it thickens a little.
The ingredients in this low calorie Kinder dessert
- Porridge oats – Porridge oats are perfect for this recipe as they are super creamy and thick. They have a rich and nutty flavor compared to other types of oats. If you don’t have porridge oats available to you, I would recommend rolled oats which still give this recipe a smooth texture.
- Protein powder – This recipe uses vanilla whey protein powder but any protein powder should work. I would recommend either a vanilla or chocolate flavor. If you are using flavorless protein powder, I would suggest adding a few tsp of 0 calorie sweetener. This is because the flavored protein powder is what adds sweetness to this recipe.
- 0% fat yogurt – 0% fat yogurt is used in this recipe to create a ganache style frosting to top the blended oats with. No fat yogurt has a very mild taste which makes it perfect for mixing with the Kinder chocolate. It is also very low in calories and fat!
- Hazelnut milk – Hazelnut milk is low in calories and adds a delicious nutty flavor to this dessert. You can use a different milk if you’d like, however, I would strongly suggest using hazelnut if you can as it honestly makes this dessert taste 10/10! Other milks I would recommend for this recipe are almond or skimmed milk.
- Kinder chocolate – The star of the show! This recipe calls for one small Kinder bar.
