When you’re in a calorie deficit or trying to lose weight, it is very important to keep a sense of normalcy and not cut anything out of your diet. Cutting things out will most likely lead to binging on them later on and it isn’t very sustainable.
If you’re craving tiramisu, have it! However, regular tiramisu contains up to 900 calories per serving! It can be very difficult to stay within a calorie deficit and have this for dessert. Creating lower calorie alternatives (that still taste delicious) to your favorite foods is incredibly important to a healthy, sustainable weight loss journey.
The reason this recipe is so low in calories is because there are small adjustments to the ingredients found in tiramisu to make this delicious single serve tiramisu an absolute delight!

- Espresso – This recipe works best with espresso. It is a very strong coffee flavor so if that’s not really your thing, you can totally use brewed coffee.
- Philadelphia lightest cream cheese – Philadelphia lightest is perfect for any recipe that requires cream cheese. It is creamy but has a fraction of the calories in mascarpone. You can also use light cream cheese if you don’t have access to the lightest version. For a vegan or dairy-free alternative, use vegan cream cheese.

How to make skinny tiramisu
- Brew your espresso and mix in 1 tsp of cocoa powder. (I also like to add 1-3 tsp of stevia as the espresso I use is very strong, but this is optional)
- Cream together the cream cheese, yogurt, sweetener and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.
- Cut the ladyfingers in half and dip them in the espresso.
- Layer the tiramisu by alternating between ladyfingers and the cream cheese mix until there is two layers of both.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Top with 1-2 tsp of cocoa powder and serve immediately.
FAQ’s
Can I use mascarpone?
If you would like to use mascarpone in this recipe, you can. Replace the cream cheese with 50g of mascarpone and mix with the yogurt. Bear in mind though that this will increase the calories by around 200 calories depending on the mascarpone you use.
Can I sub 0 calorie sweetener?
I would always recommend 0 calorie sweetener as this yields the lowest number of calories in any given recipe, and it still tastes great. I like to use Stevia but if you don’t have this available to you, you can use regular sugar which will increase the calories.
Do I need to use espresso?
I find this recipe tastes the best with espresso but you can use instant espresso or even instant coffee. Whatever type of coffee you choose to use won’t affect the recipe much but it may alter the taste.
Storage
Although this recipe is for one serving only, you can make it ahead and store in the fridge if you would like. It’s best to make and eat the day the recipe is made but you can store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Hi! Most of it comes from the lady fingers, and a little from other ingredients like the yogurt 🙂
