To make the best low calorie brownie truffles you will need:
- 3% fat cream cheese – The base for these truffles will be the cream cheese. I find that 3% fat cream cheese works the best for this recipe, it is still firm but is very low in calories. You can opt for low fat cream cheese instead of 3% but the truffles will be a little higher in calories. Opt for vegan cream cheese for a vegan alternative.
- Unsweetened cocoa powder – To get that really rich, indulgent chocolate flavor, unsweetened cocoa powder works best.
- 0 calorie icing sugar – This recipe calls for icing sugar to keep the truffles smooth and lump free. You can make your own 0 calorie icing/powdered sugar by blitzing 0 calorie sweetener in a food processor until fine and powdered.
- Dark chocolate chips – Any chocolate chips will work for this recipe but I love using dark to get that really rich chocolate flavor. For a sugar-free alternative, use sugar-free chocolate. You can also use vegan chocolate chips for a vegan alternative!

FAQ’s
What if I don’t have 0 calorie icing sugar?
If you have 0 calorie sweetener, you can just make your own 0 calorie icing sugar! I have done this by placing the sweetener into a food processor and blitzing until fine and powder-like. This is a super quick and easy process. If you don’t have any 0 calorie sweetener, you can use regular icing sugar but the calories in the truffles will increase.
Will any cocoa powder work?
Most cocoa powders will be unsweetened but there are a few that contain added sugars. Unsweetened cocoa powder is best for low calorie recipes because they contain no added sugars and the calories are very low. This unsweetened cocoa powder is my go-to and the one I use for all my recipes! But any cocoa powder will work for this recipe, the calories will not be the same for all types of cocoa powder so keep that in mind.
Can I use full fat cream cheese?
Full fat cream cheese will work for this recipe but the calories will be higher.
