I love a good pumpkin spice latte as much as the next girl but if I can tell you a little secret, I am much more fond of a gingerbread latte during Autumn and Winter. It is so warm, cozy and spiced to perfection. The only downside to getting this classic beverage at a coffee shop is the amount of calories that they contain. A large gingerbread latte from Starbucks has anywhere from 25-400 calories! That’s an insane amount of calories to use up on just a drink with little to no nutritional value and it won’t keep you full either. This low calorie gingerbread latte has just 44 calories for a large serving and tastes just as good, if not better than the Starbucks one!
I know how difficult it can be to fit all your favorite sweet treats into a calorie deficit. Especially when they don’t give you any nutritional value or satiety. Although this latte won’t keep you full, it won’t leave you hungry and needing more as there is no added sugar! It is also Keto-friendly which means no crazy sugar spikes – yay! Plus, at just 44 calories, there is no need to worry about trying to fit it into your deficit! sol
This latte is probably one of the best low calorie drinks I’ve had in a long time. It is sweet, spiced and perfect for fall. I hate when low calorie treats have that bitter chemical taste. This latte tastes perfectly sweet without any bitter aftertaste! It is also super easy to make and comes together in under 10 minutes with just 7 ingredients, need I say more?

To make this low calorie gingerbread latte you will need:
Gingerbread spice mix – This recipe features a delicious blend of fall spices to get that classic gingerbread flavor. This mix is comprised of ground ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. I also like to add a little cardamom but that is optional.
Unsweetened almond milk – Almond milk is delicious and is super low in calories making it perfect for low calorie drinks. Ensure you’re using unsweetened almond milk to keep the calories low and this recipe sugar-free. You can use any milk of your choice here but the total calories will vary.
0 calorie brown sugar – To sweeten this latte without any sugar or chemical bitter aftertaste, this 0 calorie brown sugar is your best bet. It has a delicious brown sugar like flavor without any bitterness!
Vanilla extract – Vanilla extract is always a great addition to any latte.
Espresso – You can use any espresso you would like here. You can also use a few tsp’s of instant coffee dissolved in water if you don’t have espresso.
Oat milk (optional) – I love adding a ‘whip cream’ alternative of frothy oat milk. It is super creamy and really elevates this latte.
How to make a low calorie gingerbread latte
- In a medium saucepan, mix together the almond milk, spices, vanilla and 0 calorie brown sugar until well combined.
- Set the saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer, about 5 minutes.
- Add the espresso and gingerbread milk to your favorite mug and enjoy!
Make this latte iced
- Dissolve the 0 calorie brown sugar, spices and vanilla into the espresso.
- Add ice to your favorite glass, pour the espresso mix and milk over the ice, stir and enjoy!
How to make low calorie ‘cream’
Top your drink with a delicious, creamy oat milk cream. You only need 1 ingredient and a milk frother to make it! I use this electric milk frother but a handheld one works fine too.
Place 50ml of oat milk into your milk frother and set to hot foam. To make a cold version for the iced version of this drink, set it to cold foam. If you’re using a handheld frother, place into a mug and whisk until thick and creamy. That’s it!
