Calling all coffee lovers in a calorie deficit, this 26 calorie iced latte recipe will be your best friend. I absolutely love coffee drinks – lattes, frappes, cappuccinos – the lot! One thing I’ve learned through out the course of my weight loss journey is that liquid calories are real. An Iced caramel latte with 2% milk from Starbucks comes in at just under 220 calories. That is insane for a drink that provides very little nutritional value and satiation. This 26 calorie Iced Caramel Latte is a fraction of the calories but with the same delicious sweet flavor.
Spring is approaching and we’re heading towards iced coffee season! I for one don’t bother waiting for warm weather to enjoy an iced latte – it’s iced coffee all year round for moi! But when I’m not making this 16 calorie calorie caramel frappe, I’m making this latte.
If you’re in a calorie deficit, running to Starbucks to get an Iced latte probably isn’t the best choice. Those drinks are not only expensive, but they’re packed with excess calories and sugar. Even the ‘skinny’ versions of these drinks aren’t very ‘skinny’. This Iced latte takes under 5 minutes and less than $2 to make at home AND ITS ONLY 26 CALORIES!
This iced latte only requires just three ingredients, need I say more?!?
Low Calorie Iced Caramel Latte
If being in a calorie deficit has taught me one thing, it’s to get creative with my meals and drinks. Going into my calorie deficit I knew that I didn’t want to eliminate anything.
You always hear people talking about cutting this and that out to lose weight and one that I’ve heard time and time again is liquid calories. No soda, no lattes or frappes etc.
Although I see the merit in this – there was absolutely no way I was going to cut out my morning coffee! That’s why I decided to find a ways to make my favorite recipes with fewer calories.

FAQ‘s
What is a 0 calorie syrup?
0 calorie syrups are just syrups made from sweeteners with no calories. There are so many of them these days ranging from natural sweeteners like Stevia and Monk Fruit to artificial ones.
I was looking around for a good 0 calorie syrup for a long time before I found ones I really like. You can find a whole post on my favorite flavors, but for this recipe, Salted caramel or Vanilla Caramel Creme are my favorite. I also love this Caramel Trio to make different lattes.
Can I use regular cow’s milk?
The unsweetened almond milk is the reason this iced latte is so low in calories. All the calories in this recipe come from the milk.
You absolutely can use any milk for this low calorie iced caramel latte but the calories will differ depending on the milk you use. Here is a list of alternative milk options with their calories per 200ml.
- Whole milk – 136 calories
- Skimmed milk – 73 calories
- Oat milk – 90 calories
- Soy milk – 58 calories
- Coconut milk – 41 calories
- Hazelnut milk – 58 calories
These are based on the milks available to me in the UK so the calorie content for them may differ depending on brand/country.
Do I need to use espresso?
Espresso tastes the best in iced lattes but you can certainly use any kind of coffee you like. I used two shots of decaffeinated espresso (trying to cut down on my caffeine intake). If you’re going to use regular caffeinated espresso, I would opt for 1 shot of caffeinated and 1 shot of decaffeinated. You could totally have both shots of espresso caffeinated but that’s a lot of caffeine!
You can also just use regular coffee or instant coffee which would taste just as good. The calories may differ slightly depending on what you’re using so look out for that.
I used these Dolce Gusto decaf espresso pods which have 0 calories.
