Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Rubber Spatula

Ingredients

  • 50 g oats
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • 300 ml boiled but slightly cooled water
  • 100 ml milk of choice (optional)

No toppings version

  • 50 g oats
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • 300 ml boiled but slightly cooled water
  • 20 g golden syrup

Chocolate oatmeal

  • 50 g oats
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 300 ml boiled but slightly cooled water

Instructions

  • Boil water in a kettle and allow to cool for a few minutes. Alternatively, you can bring the water to a boil in the saucepan then reduce the heat to simmer.
  • Stir in the oats and ground cinnamon (also stir in the cocoa powder if making the chocolate oatmeal).
  • Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl, pour the milk over the oatmeal and mix until well combined. Add your toppings and enjoy!

Notes

If you're not adding toppings, stir in the golden syrup after the oatmeal is done cooking. For really creamy oatmeal, pour 100ml of milk over the hot oatmeal and let it soak!
